Is your yard looking a little burnt these days? That's because we're in a drought period right now.
Your lawn doesn't need to suffer, though. That's why it's important to be familiar with water rules and restrictions for your property, whether you have reclaimed water or not.
But here's what you need to know:
If you have no water pressure at this time, you're probably watering during a restricted time. It's important to follow your city's rules when watering your lawn. Municipalities determine which times and days specific addresses can water, so review those to find out when you're good to go. When you water during your designated time, your water pressure will be better. And you'll be helping out your community and environment by staying on schedule.
Allow your lawn to have one inch of water per week. How will you know? Place an empty tuna can in your yard and use it as a gauge each week. That way, you can measure at the end of the week — and make sure you're on track. There are also plenty of apps and websites out there to keep track of rainfall in your area. Check out this one we like by iWeather.
More water isn't better. It'll bring on weeds and fungus. Which are a whole host of other problems. So, don't overdo it.
